I grew up around guns and hunting my entire life and my business started like so many others as a hobby. Being as times are with our gun rights being challenged I wanted to ensure I had access to guns and ammo, what way better to make sure you guys and gals have access to guns and ammo also is to get my FFL license. I received my first class 1 FFL in November of 2014 and have renewed it twice since then.
Here at 4 Most Firearms we specialize in Custom CERAKOTE Finishes. CERAKOTE is a 2-part polymer ceramic coating that is available in hundreds of colors. Our attention to detail is second to none and provide 3 different series of CERAKOTE finishes. First the most common is C-Series that is a bake on coating. Second there is an air dry CERAKOTE that I mainly use for springs because you cannot bake springs as it changes the spring tension. Finally, there is an Elite series which is the newest series in the CERAKOTE line. This series is thinner and more durable than the previous series. Since this series is the newest on the market it is limited on colors. You can contact us directly to discuss options and pricing for your custom firearm applications.
If you would like me to CERAKOTE a gun for you the process is simple. If you are not local to my shop you are welcome to have your local FFL dealer send me your complete gun. I will disassemble your gun CERAKOTE it and send it back completely assembled to your FFL and you can simply pick it up there. The second step is that I will totally degrease the gun to remove all oil and grease that is present. Third I would plug both sides of the barrel with silicone plugs and tape off anything that is not to be CERAKOTED with high temperature tape. Fourth I would sandblast the entire gun using garnet sand. (Garnet sand is needed because of its small grit size). Once sandblasted I would prebake the metal parts to make sure all the oil is gone. If any gun oil is present, I would degrease the gun again and sandblast again and repeat this until no oil is present. Once that step is done, I hang the parts in preparation to be sprayed. I will usually spray 2 CERAKOTE coats to achieve the perfect thickness. Once sprayed I have to leave the parts hang for a couple of minutes to let the parts flash over. Flash over is basically letting the finish air dry a little bit and evens the finish out. Once they flash over, I would put all the parts into the oven for approximately 2 hrs. Metal parts and plastic or wood parts need to be baked at different temperatures and times. Once everything is baked, I would remove all the parts and let them cool. Once everything is cool, I would remove all the high temperature tape, silicone plugs and wire I use to hang small parts. Then start reassembling everything.
We have most CERAKOTE colors in stock so the turnaround on guns really depends on the color and series of CERAKOTE you want to use. If I have the material in stock and I do not have another gun ahead of yours I can usually get it done within 2 days.
I have a vinyl cutter so I can customize your firearm. So, if you have a special phrase or something you would like on your gun let me know because the options are pretty much endless. I use a high heat vinyl because of the baking process. If I did not use high temp vinyl it would just fall off in the oven. If you have a picture or something that is not in the correct format for my vinyl cutter, I will have to convert it to a format that is readable by my cutter. I have hundreds of files available already on my computer so let me know what you are looking for and I will look to see if I already have something that will work for you. If I put a phrase or pattern on the gun, I would spray the gun, bake it for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove it and let it cool. Then apply the vinyl and spray with the second color. The same process if a third color is used and so on. Once all the graphics are applied and sprayed, I would bake for an addition 2 hrs.
4 Most Firearms also provides gunsmithing services in Pennsylvania. I purchased the Professional gunsmith course from AGI in 2013. I have customers come to me because other gunsmiths turn the job down because they cannot find a part etc. I have a lot of resources to find parts. They may have to be slightly used but a used part is better than not having a part that makes your gun a paper weight. I can also make some parts as well so if you are having trouble finding something give us a call and let see what can be done.
With the popularity of adding new sights to your older gun something you should know is If you are looking to have a new sight put on your pistol do not have someone use a brass punch to install them and possibly damage the sight or barrel of your precious firearm. I use a professional sight installation tool from Maryland Gunworks that clamps the slide into the tool and pushes or pulls the sight on for a no damage installation. Tritium sights are prone to breakage and if you use a brass punch to install.
If you are looking to purchase a new gun it would be in your best interest to let me price it for you. I have multiple dealers that I can check guns for sale and if they are in stock. If I find the gun on sale you will also get it on sale. I use a standard markup so I would use the sale price for my markup, not the original price plus shipping if applicable. Even if you are not local to me at my shop, I can send the gun to your local FFL dealer.
Located in Marble PA if you buy a gun in my shop, I use a special gun shop software program on my computer to fill out the 4473. I scan your driver’s license and it auto populates a lot of the info you would normally have to fill in by hand. Everything is filled in electronically so all you must do is answer the questions and sign and date it. It is very accurate and easy for my customers. If you buy a pistol you will still have to manually fill out another form required by PA. If I ship the gun you will have to do the paperwork at your local FFL dealer.
Things to look for at 4 Most Firearms is to upgrade our FFL to a Class 7 so I can sell and manufacture our own line of silencers and other NFA products. Plans are in place to also manufacture our own custom version of the 1911 pistol for both home defense and competition. So, add yourself to our newsletter or like us on Facebook where you will see custom CERAKOTE finishes and other firearm projects and specials.
